Description

The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court system employs nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks. The Department of Information and Technology Services has an immediate opening for an Assistant Data Officer. This position is in Franklin County. The Assistant Data Officer works with the data officer to coordinate the strategic use of data in the Kentucky Court of Justice.


Characteristics of the Job: Responsibilities include coordinating the use of Kentucky court of justice data used in evidence-based policy or public interest research; establishing and maintaining relationships with researchers to most effectively and appropriately utilize KCOJ’S court of judicial department data; and documenting standardized fields, relationships, concepts, and processes related to aggregate reports and bulk data compilations provided externally. with the Kentucky court of justice's robust centralized data system, this position requires a candidate with both a strong analytical and technical background.


Examples Of Duties or Responsibilities of This Classification:

  • Coordinate evidence-based policy evaluations within the Kentucky court of justice.
  • Support external research using KCOJ data.
  • Review and provide feedback for proposed research publications that involve the use of KCOJ data.
  • Document, review, and enhance tools, definitions, and procedures to continuously improve the AOC's statistical reporting process.
  • Embrace defined departmental project delivery methodology through adoption and usage of templates and processes defined by the organization to complete daily tasks.
  • Work with the research and statistics team to complete statistical and data requests for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with personnel matters as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Strong understanding of statistical and research methods.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including instructional, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on coaching and motivational skills, enthusiasm, and positive attitude.
  • Code proficiency in at least one statistical analysis syntax (r, Stata, SAS, SPSS, etc.); data visualization platform (tableau, power bi, etc.); or other similar language or software (SQL etc.).
  • Ability to quickly master new software and code syntax.
  • AOC research & statistics currently uses tableau and SQL and may utilize other tools in the future.
  • Ability to present complex ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly manner.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Advanced problem solving, logic, and conflict resolution skills.
  • In-depth hands-on knowledge of Microsoft product suite, particularly word, excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in meeting facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced time management skills.
  • Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Advanced understanding of court processes and concepts is a plus.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Masters degree including statistical analysis and research

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an office setting and requires regular attendance on-site at the designated work location. Occasional travel between locations potentially required. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
