Position Description: 
The Digital Content Lead will oversee UFCW’s content production across web, email, and social media platforms. This role manages the union’s internal newsletter, updates website content, supports digital campaigns, and helps ensure UFCW’s digital presence is consistent, accurate, and engaging.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write, edit, and publish content for UFCW’s websites, blog, and internal newsletters that spotlight member stories, bargaining/organizing wins, and other labor-related news.
  • Support weekly internal newsletter production, coordinating with UFCW local unions and departments to surface timely and relevant content.
  • Manage website content updates in WordPress, including basic HTML/CSS edits and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
  • Apply SEO standards and contribute to developing search-optimized content.
  • Track website analytics, producing reports with actionable insights and recommendations for improving audience engagement. 
  • Support local unions with website strategy and digital communications development as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the Content Strategist to repurpose web and blog content for UFCW’s social media channels.
  • Draft social media posts tied to UFCW campaigns, blog content, and member stories.
  • Support the Communications Department’s Visual Designer and Content Strategist with collecting media content (photos, videos) for posting on digital platforms.
  • Monitor social and web trends to identify emerging opportunities for UFCW content.
  • Provide communications support for UFCW conferences, International Executive Board Meetings, and other work-sponsored and related events, including, but not limited to: writing speeches and remarks and presentations as directed.

UFCW employees function as a team and, occasionally, and on a temporary basis, employees may be required to perform tasks usually performed by others. This might occur if a team member is absent or unavailable to complete a project and the team is responsible for the deadline. Because employees are required to work as a team, you are required to step up and fill in for a team member who is absent or needs assistance from time to time.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in digital communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Experience writing, designing, and editing content for public audiences.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and experience managing content in WordPress or similar CMS platforms.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and SEO. 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines.
  • Must be a team player, with a positive attitude, who enjoys collaborative work environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in digital marketing or paid media.
  • Basic video editing or photography skills.
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus.

Job Demands
The work atmosphere may be fast paced at times. Most deadlines are predictable.

Working Conditions
The work is performed in a normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed under stressful situations, with multiple projects occurring simultaneously under deadline.

Physical Demands
This position involves, but is not limited to, written and oral communications skills, use of computer keyboard, close vision, sitting for long periods, stooping, bending and reaching.

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $66,931 – $84,445.
