The Director of Research and Prospect Management reports to the Senior Director of Advancement Planning and Administration within the Advancement team and is responsible for high-level analysis of the constituent prospect pool, strategic prospect development, and creating and implementing policies and procedures to drive prospect movement and fundraising performance. Leveraging prospect data, capacity ratings, and predictive modeling, the Director will analyze and synthesize data into clear and compelling presentations that drive strategic planning for gift officers in support of the Museum’s current and planned fundraising campaigns. The position directly oversees a research analyst and is responsible for coordinating all research requests from within the department and from Museum leadership, developing methods to improve prospect data integrity, and evaluating and selecting research resources. This role works closely with the Director of Advancement Operations to administer efficient prospect management systems, reports and processes, and ensure appropriate data protocols are in place. 

Specifically, you will:

 
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive prospect development program, including policies and standards to scale cultivation and solicitation activity across all fundraising programs.
  • Collaborate with senior members of the Advancement team to build a prospect management system that ensures dynamic management of prospects from identification to qualification, discovery, cultivation and solicitation.
  • Lead prospect research process; oversee quality deliverables that assess the capacity, inclination, and philanthropic history of prospects aligning prospect strategies with fundraising campaigns and special projects.
  • Conduct and lead meetings with gift officers to prioritize new prospects and optimize portfolios.
  • Prioritize research requests from within the department and from Museum leadership, conducting varying levels of biographical and financial prospect research.
  • Create standardized templates for each type of request, including full profiles, executive briefs, capacity ratings, event bios, and more.
  • Track progress of prospects by supporting moves management and progress toward fundraising project goals through evaluation and reporting mechanisms.
  • Maintains expert proficiency in the use of the CRM (Raiser’s Edge), its query tools, programs, and reports, as well as other analytical tools used by the department, such as Tableau.
  • Serves as an expert and staff resource regarding prospect management policies and procedures and the proper use and function of prospect information in the database, conducting best practices training for staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your background and experience include:

 
  • Minimum of five years’ experience developing, designing and delivering prospect research, metrics reporting, and data analysis in an advancement/development work environment.
  • Expertise with prospect research methodology and practice, including interpreting wealth indicators and synthesizing financial, technical and trade materials.
  • Ideal candidate will have strong data analytics experience.
  • Expert-level experience with subscription-based online search engines including LexisNexis, Kindsight/iWave, and Wealth Engine.
  • Excellent analytical, logical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities, and capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Process and detail-oriented.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency using Raiser’s Edge, or other similar fundraising databases.
  • Diplomatic, collaborative, and committed to professional ethics.
  • Demonstrated adherence to confidentiality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area.
Position and Compensation Details
  • The salary for this position is $95,000.
  • This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and 35 hours per week.
  • This position reports to Senior Director of Advancement Planning and Administration
  • This position is required to be performed fully onsite at Philadelphia Museum of Art locations.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
