Job Description

Job Type: Full Time, Remote
Location: Remote role; team works on East or Central time
Salary: $67,000–75,000

Ragan Communications seeks a Writer with content marketing and reporting experience to write smart, service-driven content that educates professional audiences and drives engagement, registrations and long-term brand value.

We’re an award-winning media company focused on the communications/PR market and with a service-based mission. The ideal candidate will be someone who values business journalism, team collaboration and innovation.

Our content, conferences, research and sponsored programs are all fueled by strong storytelling, thoughtful reporting and strategic content marketing. This role blends editorial rigor with marketing instincts — creating content that informs, attracts and converts audiences across articles, events, research and sponsored campaigns.

In a typical week, you might interview a Fortune 100 chief communications officer, develop content to support an upcoming conference, write session previews and speaker spotlights to drive registrations and curate timely industry coverage. You’ll work closely with editors, conference producers and marketing partners in a collaborative, fully remote environment.

Responsibilities include:
  • Write original, reported articles for PR Daily and Ragan.com that educate audiences and drive sustained engagement.
  • Create and execute content marketing initiatives to promote Ragan events, including articles, previews, speaker profiles and supporting editorial features.
  • Support conference and event content programming by securing speakers, shaping session topics, writing agenda copy and moderating panels.
  • Develop sponsored content such as white papers, long-form articles, tip sheets and thought leadership assets.
  • Build strong relationships with sources across agencies, brands and the communications industry to support both editorial and marketing initiatives.
  • Participate in live Ragan conferences and events several times a year.
Skills:
  • Strong interviewing and reporting skills paired with a clear understanding of content marketing strategy.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into compelling, audience-first content that supports business goals.
  • Crisp, engaging writing with a friendly, authoritative tone.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with editorial, events and sales teams.
  • Strong communication skills in a remote work environment.
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset.
  • Willingness to experiment with new content formats, distribution strategies and promotional approaches.
  • A data-driven mindset, including experience with Google Analytics or similar tools.
Location:
  • Fully remote, with a preference for candidates near major PR or communications hubs to support sourcing.
  • Travel required approximately five times per year for events and team-building activities.
Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in reporting, content marketing and/or communications.
  • At least two years of experience in B2B trade media or a comparable professional audience environment.
  • Four-year college degree required.
Benefits and Perks:
Our core values – Connection, Curiosity, Innovation, and Integrity – guide all we do and help define what’s important to us at  Ragan .
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • 401(k) with a generous employer match
  • Company paid disability and life insurance
  • Flexible work environment
  • Generous PTO and Paid Holidays
  • Learning and development program
